Playing at home on a 90-degree day with a heat index of nearly 100 degrees, the Eagles wasted no time and dominated New Castle on Tuesday, Sept. 4 with a 5-0 varsity victory and an 8-0 JV victory.
In the varsity match, New Castle managed to win only five games total in the five matches. Tannon Dishman at No. 1 singles, Tanner Southerland at No. 3 singles, and Joel Ashman/Brandon Jackson at No. 1 doubles all won 6-0, 6-0.
Michael Curtis and Mason Knight won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2 doubles. Ben Bamidele won 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2 singles,
Daniel Vencel, Josef Zacek, Riley Windsor and Devin McKinley won JV singles matches. Cade Brown/Jaigen Glaze, Ben Slavin/Walker Boyle, Sam Arnold/Eli Arnold, and Aidan Landis/Jordan Ashton all won JV doubles matches.
Delta, ranked 14th, is now 7-1 varsity and 3-0 in the Hoosier Heritage Conference. The Eagles will play Saturday at the Kokomo Invitational.
