The Delta boys’ tennis program is well-represented on the 2018 All-State teams.
Senior Tannon Dishman earned All-State Singles Second Team honors on Saturday in voting by the Indiana High School Tennis Coaches Association. Fifteen players statewide received First Team honors and 15 more on Second Team.
Dishman finished 22-5 at No. 1 singles this fall, losing only to other All-State players. He was All-State Doubles First Team last year. He is only the second player in Delta boys’ tennis history to be All-State in both singles and doubles, joining Rob Robbins (Doubles 1996, Singles 1998).
Senior Joel Ashman and sophomore Brandon Jackson were named All-State Doubles Second Team on Saturday. Ten teams statewide received First Team honors and 10 more on Second Team.
Ashman and Jackson were 23-3 at No. 1 doubles this fall, losing only to other All-State teams. Ashman also was All-State Doubles last fall.
Senior Ben Bamidele received Honorable Mention All-State Singles after going 19-8 this fall at No. 2 singles. Bamidele also qualified for Honorable Mention Academic All-State.
The boys’ varsity received Team Academic All-State, also. This acknowledges the team’s combined grade-point average of 3.6 or higher. Only 30 teams statewide qualified for this honor.
Dishman and Ashman will compete in the Indiana All-Star senior match on Nov. 3 at Depauw University.
