The Eagles put together one of their best matches of the season Tuesday night with a 4-1 varsity victory over an experienced New Castle team.

The Trojans entered with an 11-1 season record and a No. 5 ranking in District 4.  Against a stronger schedule, Delta entered with a 3-4 record and a No. 3 ranking in D4.

Senior Kody Vest got things started with a 6-2, 6-3 victory over New Castle senior Leo Underhill at the top spot.

Freshman Luke Atkinson beat New Castle senior Matt Hastings 6-2, 6-1 at No. 3 singles.

The Eagles swept doubles, also, with Ben Miller/Brady Williams winning 6-1, 6-2 at the top spot and Aaron Elliott/Tyce Dishman blanking their opponents 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 doubles.

Senior Owen Cupp tried to make it a sweep as he pulled out a 7-5 first-set victory over New Castle senior Vincent Farris.  However, Farris came back to win the last two sets, 6-2, 6-2.

In the JV match, Delta dominated in a 13-1 victory with every player getting to compete.

The Eagles are now 4-4 overall and 3-1 in the HHC. The next match is Wednesday evening at Lapel at 5:15 p.m.
