Eagles Tame the Tigers

Delta improved to 10-3 overall and 4-1 in the Hoosier Heritage Conference with a 5-0 shutout victory at Yorktown on Tuesday night.  The Eagles now have won 49 of the past 50 meetings with Yorktown in boys’ tennis over the past three decades.  Their last loss to the Tigers came in the fall of 1992

Junior Tannon Dishman extended his winning streak to 48 straight games with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 2 singles as the Eagles shut out the Yorktown Tigers.

Prior to the match, Tannon had won 36 straight games in his previous three matches at No. 1 doubles.

Jason Wegener also won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles.  He is 14-2 for the season.

Joel Ashman and Michael Curtis teamed up at No. 1 doubles and won 6-3, 6-2 over Nathan Hicks and Joey Ulrich.  Ashman is 14-2 and Curtis is 10-6 this fall.

At No. 3 singles, Ben Bamidele won for the ninth time in his last 12 matches.  He rallied from an early 2-5 hole to beat Mason Minniear 7-5, 6-2.
At No. 2 doubles, senior Caleb Gillis got his first varsity start and partnered with sophomore Mason Knight to win 6-2, 6-1.

In JV action, the Eagles won 6-0 before rain stopped play.  Tanner Southerland, Brandon Jackson and Cade Brown won singles matches, and Jackson Boyle/Blake Shanayda, Ben Slavin/Jaigen Glaze, and Riley Windsor/Devin McKinley were winners.
