The Eagles improved to 15-1 on the season with a 6-1 victory over Fort Wayne Concordia Lutheran in a home varsity girls’ tennis match Tuesday evening.

The coaches agreed to a format of three singles and four doubles matches for the varsity contest.

Delta won every match in straight sets except No. 3 singles. First off the court was the No. 2 doubles team of Mayzie Hinkle and Abby Bamidele, who won 6-0, 6-0. They were followed quickly by No. 1 doubles team of Tynan Dishman and Maggie Manor, who won 6-1, 6-0.

The Eagles also won the JV match, 8-1.

Earlier in the day, Delta climbed to No. 10 in the state rankings in the latest poll. It is the first time the Eagles have cracked the Top 10 since 2016. Next match for Delta will be Thursday, when they face 11th-ranked Center Grove at 6 p.m. at Greenfield-Central HS courts.
